Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Staff Played Character on Fri Jul 17, 2015 10:46 pm

[Everyone post here once with an Exit]

Despite the light rain that had cascaded downwards upon the world itself, drenching the village hidden in steam entirely and blanketing it in it's subtle embrace, everything was far from peaceful here. Over six-hundred genin from numerous medium and lesser known villages packed the village like a sardine can. Villages from areas of the world that many didn't even know about, upon arrival each group of genin was separated from their overseers after entering the giant building that was in the center of the town. It was a massive observatory on the outside but on the inside it was just a hollowed out shell with a stage at the back. As each genin group packed the room the overseers took to the stage, over two hundred in all, sitting in chars that stretched around the room itself. The sheer size of this building was unlike anything that any of these Genin had seen before, as on it's inside it was far larger than it appeared on the outside. After a few boring speeches from representatives from around the village a beautiful man with long flowing robes that flowed along with his elegant hair took the stage.

He was graceful in his stride, seeming to be someone with a lot of power and a lot of money. It could be seen that on his forehead was a headband signifying the village itself, and he stood gripping the ends of the podium and looking out at the crowds before him. Raising his right hand slowly the noise in the massive arena seemed to come to a close, tho children were children so whispering still continued. He didn't care about that, he just wanted the majority of those in the room to at least pay attention to him while he discussed the event, how it would be ran, and the expectations of the genin while being guests in the village. He stood in silence for a brief moment, eyes looking out at the potential in the room and allowed himself to smile softly at the masses amassed before his imposing stature and unyielding figure. He tapped the microphone softly with his lightly tanned fingers and inhaled slowly.

"Welcome one and all to Yugakure, I am the Yugakage, Ontochi Raiga. It is an honor to meet all of you and I hope you are all enjoying your stay. Despite the abysmal weather we are currently experiencing I assure you it only adds another element of challenge to tonight's festivities. This is a three day competition among all the villages participating that will determine which village is the best at what they do, being a shinobi. If you are eliminated from the competition you will be sent home immediately. With or without your comrades in arms. The competition is split into four distinct events which will determine the knowledge that each village has in the four main aspects of nindo.

The ninjutsu competition is in the Northern sector of the village. You will be charged with using your knowledge over ninjutsu to find a way to solve the puzzle that we have set up there. The puzzle is simple, get the boulder off of the platform and safely onto the platform fifteen meters from where it is. So long as most of the boulder is on the platform you will succeed, it is not necessary to have the entire boulder on top of the platform. You will see how simple this competition is once you make your way to that area. Be sure to show off your greatest moves as you will be judged on style.

The genjutsu competition is in the Central sector of the village. You're to simple enter the ramen shop and order a cup of rice wine. There is only enough rice win in the shop for a handful of you and your time is up when night falls. The method in which you do this is completely up to you. It is quite simple really and will show us which of you all is actually suited for advancement to the next phase. Be sure to show off your greatest moves as you will be judged on style.

The taijutsu competition is in the Southern sector of the village. You will be entering our arena and facing off in teams of three against two teams of creatures. What these creatures are you will find out by the time you enter the Arena. Those who fail at completing their task will be promptly eliminated from the competition. Do not worry about harming these creatures as we have some of the best medical ninja in our village eager to take care of them after the fact. Be sure to show off your greatest moves as you will be judged on style.

The kenjutsu competition is located at the Outskirts of the village. You will be facing off against each other to thin the crops. The only real way to test one's skill in swordplay is to have them face off against other's of equal level. WE didn't want to throw you all to the wolves this early, but we need the weaker candidates weeded out immediately so they do not tarnish the competition with their sub par abilities. Be sure to show off your greatest moves as you will be judged on style.

As I have said numerous times, part of being a ninja is more than just getting your job done, you have to do it with flare, with style. If you fail to do something with style now you might not get a chance to show it off later, for those who barely succeed their tasks will ALSO be eliminated. Head out and enjoy yourselves, feel free to use any of our facilities free of charge and do be sure you get plenty of rest when the first phase of the competition dies down tonight. Tomorrow you will enter the second phases of competition."

He walked away from the podium and bowed to the crowd as he motioned for all of the overseers to follow him out of the building, allowing for his coordinator to take the stage and instruct everyone to head into their preferred are of study. There was no limit of how many participants could be in each section of the competition. He expected a great competition to be held and he held his nature to be serious due to the fact that none of his own village's genin were participating. He wanted to see how the other villages managed to get so great, which the other Kage allowed him to do. He was excited to see what kind of techniques and attitudes these ninja had, for the next generation of shinobi would have a lot to live up to if they wanted to be as great as the generation that came before them.

Yoshiro was dancing in the crowd, purely for fun. He listened to the kage guy and and hear the Taijutsu thing and had one idea on his mind. Could Taika be there? The dude who beat him with his own strength, Taijtusu. IT WAS THE DUDE WHO KNEW ROCK LEE. THAT WAS HYPE AND AMAZING AND COOL AND GREAT.

There was something off. Maybe it was the fact that he could only do one event... or maybe it was that Rock Lee himself wasn't there... or maybe he just had a piss-shite horrible feeling about this Kage. He, before dancing away, noticed what was off. Not a single person, not a single student under the Yugakage was there.

He then danced off.

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Go-go on Sun Jul 19, 2015 1:08 pm

"So this is Yukagakure?"

"Its Yugakure Miss". A deep and commanding voice responded, meanwhile correcting the young Kunoichi. Mama Go-go placed her left index on her lips before releasing a little giggle. How could she had been so foolish as to mispronounce the name of the village? "Aye, I know that now Shiro Senpai". Did Go-go declare showing respect to her Ninken companion. The girl had her beautiful scarlet eyes surveying the area.

Shinobi from other villages, namely Genins had amass themselves like an army preparing for war. But luckily for Go-go this was just a gathering to kick off some kind of an event. There she was inside the village, now looking up at a rather large building. The doors was open and the Genins from all walk of life was ushered inside. A creepy thing it is when there are Genins that are way older than herself. What was with this age gap? Mama Go-go began to wonder, while also recognizing that the Shinobi world had been at peace for a long time. Maybe the advancing of a Shinobi from one rank to another wasn't of any real importance.

Why should anyone care when the whole world seems to be holding hands and singing kumbaya? Go-go and Shiro advanced inside the building where the majority had gathered. The young Kunoichi along with her over sized Ninken found themselves a corner, where Shiro could lay down and be comfortable. The Ninken turned out to be quite the attraction. Both Go-go and Shiro could hear others discussing and voicing their own opinion of them. Mama Go-go was seated next to Shiro, carefully stroking the Ninken. That was when a certain dashing individual took the podium. The man appeared more feminine that the elegant and yet tomboyish Go-go.

The room soon fell silent for the most part, only some chit chat here and there. Mama along with her Ninken listened intently, meanwhile assessing the situation at hand. The Kunoichi smiled while nodding to herself saying. "Be sure to show off your greatest moves as you will be judged on style." The girl said while pondering the importance of this best moves and style stuff. The instructions given onto those present was clear enough. Mama and Shiro soon picked themselves up and exited the room. They needed to make preparations or at least discuss a few things. In any event the festival could turn out to be quite fun.

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Ashitaka on Sun Jul 19, 2015 2:05 pm

There's no question that Ashitaka was experiencing a great deal of angst. On top of the tension of conflict and competition in the air, large crowds made Ashitaka nervous. He barely had the focus to pay attention to the speaker up front. Ashitaka was relieved to hear thee first two challenges involved a rock and genjustu, his specialties. But, his heart sank upon hearing that then final two competitions would be in taijutsu and kenjutsu. The only redeeming factor was that some of these competitions he would be in a team. Eager to get ahead in the competition, Ashitaka ran off towards the genjustu completion in central.

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Bardo Rebellion on Sun Jul 19, 2015 4:13 pm

As Bardo would have arrived looking around the land of Hot Springs it wasn’t as how he would have thought it to be, though it was quite festive and seemingly a well opened minded area for people to visit the rain perhaps would have downed some of the spirits within the village driving Bardo into a rather bland mood. However, he wasn’t here for the atmosphere but rather because an interesting event was transpiring and he needed a place as to which to test his skills, therefore, this nindo festival sounded like a rather interesting place to make his ninja debut. So as he would arrived at the building as to which they were supposed to enter his mind set would swiftly change as he could see all the people from different lands and some of rather strange origins not truly knowing if their headbands where from an older design or simply foreign lands as to which he never heard of…. Though he wouldn’t have had long to analyze the area as for they quickly were seated and then a rather graceful or perhaps condescending man would have taken the stage, the Yugakage, Ontochi Raiga….. What a peculiar name. As he would have made his speech Bardo would have sat back rather relaxing though quite cautious and on the lookout for anything that would have seemingly been off about this welcoming ceremony but to his surprise at least as of right now everything would have been going rather smoothly.

Therefore, after the man would bow and take his leave of the stage Bardo would await to be taken to his designated location which at the moment would most likely consist of ninjutsu for he wouldn’t have had any real jutsu or backings in his other areas as of the moment. So with this he would let out a deep sigh and get up stretching as he would be ready for this interesting day to begin with a atmosphere demanding of not only skill but also flair… today truly would be an interesting and amusing one indeed…

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Kazumi on Sun Jul 19, 2015 5:02 pm

Kazumi walked through the throngs of Genin as if they were gathered for a concert or some type of performance. He moved slowly, his Kirigakure headband displayed proudly just above his eye brow. He noticed Genin from all different villages, and some that he’d never even seen before. He had no idea the land of hot water maintained such a shinobi force. Though it was one of the weakest he’d ever seen. He wondered if he would witness some new and exciting discoveries on this trip for sure. He motioned dodging members of other villages as he notices Go-go his teammate prepare a seat. He sluggishly made it through the crowd until he found his seat and the speaker was preparing to make his statement. Kazumi removed a book from his inner flak jacket, paying much more attention to his reading than what the person had to say. Although he was sure to be keen on the main details and ignored all the rambling. He was ready for this, this would be his first great challenge as a Genin. Would he fail? Would he succeed? He didn’t immediately know the answer to these unknown unknowns but he would proudly seek those answers in this grand event of Genin level shinobi. It almost reminded him of how the Chunin exams might be. This would just be a warm up. He wondered how he would fair after the commencement of the speech was finished. He put his book away; eager to get this show on the road. Maybe he would even watch Go-go perform. He loved to watch women shinobi in their natural habitat. He eyed that damn cock blocking dog again, and almost tooted his nose up at it. It was now time to begin and his Kaguya blood was all too excited.

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Kouzai on Mon Jul 20, 2015 8:05 am

The greatest victory
Is the battle not fought.

Toyohisa Kouzai
Land of Iron

NOTES
Samurai
Kenjutsu
Weaponry
The Land of Hot Water was something to behold, the weather was so unlike anything Kouzai had ever seen before. The rain fell, it was warm and hot, the land itself was ripe with hot springs, geysers and all sorts of earth events. Some even say the ninja here could manipulate the stream from the earth in devastating ways. Kouzai wasn't sure if the rumors were true, but he did know this place was extremely hot. Sweat formed on his forehead, and under his clothes. The rain offered no relief, and instead covered the entire village is a fog or stream. Kouzai remembered a interesting fact about this place, that the waters held rejuvenation properties and old women would come here from all over the land to look younger, even a little bit. He looked around, and found he was the only Samurai here, he felt a little ashamed, but he wanted to see and perhaps compete in what was coming up. The throngs of people made it very stuffy in the large hall, as he simply followed the flow of people. He stood in the back, many people stood in the back. Lots of angst genin and ninja trying to look cool, show some notion that they were unimpressed and somehow better than this. Kouzai found it ironic, as if they thought themselves better than this, why even bother attending? Such a waste for people so obviously talented. Unless, that's what his master had said one time. Ninja were all about the ego and such, not about getting the job done. Kouzai would have see during this competition.

He listened to the Yugakage, which was an odd thing to say. The Hot Spring Shadow, it sounded more like a pervert than a proper kage. But Kouzai wasn't aware of how the titles operated. 4 tests, Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu and Kenjutsu. Only one of those might be considered fun for him, though he'd love to see how these ninja imparted their skills. He had heard that trained in teams, Kouzai knew Samurai trained with one master, who may have had many students, but just one master at a time. To obtain the full benefit of a master samurai. This spectacle would be something to behold. Kouzai was excited to see and understand the ninja better, what they used how they used it. Perhaps he would finally be able to become a blacksmith proper, selling tools far and wide.

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

Post by Tsuneo on Mon Jul 20, 2015 1:34 pm

With all the enthusiasm of an elderly cat on a garden bench swing lazily pawing at a just-out-of-reach tumbleweed on a hot summer evening, Tsuneo smiled. Or grimaced. Or perhaps it was the kind of smile you pulled when you opened a pungent handknit jumper on your birthday in the middle of spring from your aunt who you were never quite sure if she always smelt funny, or just developed an old person smell that simply never rubs off and clings to everything like a sloth on steriods. Nevertheless, Tsuneo tried. He had just recieved an incredibly excitable letter direct from the Tsuchikage, complete with emojis similar to that of a 14 year old girl who had just discovered instant fuuin messenging. As with many letters he recieved Tsuneo glazed over the words before throwing it in the general direction of his nearest bin, however as the crumpled up paper ball sailed through the air he remembered a few words that he just read. You... Invitation... Go to Yugakure... My faithful Genin... Love from Gin Sojima - Tsuchikage. He then promptly swore out loud. He had just completed a mission and wanted a relaxing laze about the house session.

Now here he was. Yugakure. Surrounded by the noise of chatter and excited whispers of Genin from all different villages and origins. Glancing to and fro Tsuneo saw participants from all the major villages, which were the ones he noted himself to keep an eye upon, this festival was not just a friendly get together. It was a show of skill, power and most of all dominance. It didn't agree with Tsuneo that the Genin - the ones who were by far the least noticeable in an army - were to show how strong they were to potential combatants. Ugh, or maybe I'm just being paranoid. But as always, all it takes is one retard from a major village to be caught checking out some chick from another major village's ass... Time to cheer up I suppose. Straightening his beret Tsuneo stepped forwards into the arena with the hundreds of other Genin all gawking at the stage. Silence suddenly fell upon the crowds as the microphone engulfed the building with the loud sound of tapping, reducing the volume to naught but whispers and rainfall, spotlighting the arrival of an elegantly dressed man.

Well he looks just fabulous, honey. As Tsuneo listened to the Yugakage's speech something tugged at his mind, he kept mentioning style. Style, style, style. What the fuck is wrong with him? He's not even talking about hats. He wants us to go nuclear or go home? Thats like playing face up poker with him playing facedown. As a matter of fact... Tsuneo turned a full 360 studying all the village symbols on every Genin he could see. There was no Yugakure Genin. Cheeky bastard... Ooo. Smexy. A black fedora caught his eye, sitting upon the most vibrant of short red hair belonging to a blue eyed girl from Kusagakure. His weak point thoroughly speared through the heart, Tsuneo followed the girl to her first event faster than a junkie cat finding a map to the worlds biggest catnip stash.

Re: Opening Ceremony [Nindo Festival]

New villages were always interesting, however this particular one was not new. This was her second visit within the walls of Yugakure and her 6th time being within the borders of the village itself. Scouting or Travelling took people far and wide. Despite being acquainted with the place Yura always found destination fascinating. Travelling was a hobby almost a guilty pleasure. The Hidden Village of hotsprings and correct in its name the village was known for its supposed healing hot springs.

During her visit she had never found the pleasure of experiencing these so called hot springs, Regardless. Yura had arrived early, before the rain had started, sitting in doors under a thatch covered stall. There she had sat ordering tea to be polite but she hadn't quite taken to drinking it. She sat there for perhaps an hour or two as the rain began to start at a drizzle then to a current state it was in now.

The venue had been relatively empty when she had first arrived but now the venue became slowly more and more filled with Genin from everywhere. Konohagakure, Iwagakure, Kirigakure did she see a Suna headband? Yura seldom wore her headband and currently it was stowed away in her inner jack pocket on her left. She found peace from the vibrant people around her age, all genin with a few Jounin teachers. What a nice place.

The announcements were made and Yura listened to them. She had found an event that would most likely suit her. She picked up a bundle that shifted even in its tight bond and wooden planks of sorts could be heard bumping into one another.
