Appearance Information~Description: A shinobi hailing from the village hidden in the mists wears his forehead protector proudly on his head. Masato's attire isn't entirely common though it isn't particularly unusual and certainly not flamboyant or particularly conspicuous. A cloak shrouds this young man in a manner that pays homage to his father's choice of clothing. Underneath this cloak, Masato does not wear a shirt, though he wears a sarashi. The only scraps of clothing he wears besides his underwear are his shorts. Completing this ensemble are his shinobi sandals, his pouch, his shuriken holster and wrappings applied to his arms and legs. Any curiosity regarding the color of the kinds of adornments a ninja wears that come in multiple colors can be answered by the simple statement that Masato's favorite color is black.
Masato has a physique befitting a ninja and a grey pallor that gives him a morbid appearance. His hair is pitch black, dull and stringy and his eyes are intense like dark coals.
Height: 151 cm
Weight: 42.5 kg
Blood Type: A
Personality Information~Personality Description: Masato has inherited his father's beliefs. He believes that showing ones emotions is a weakness that corrodes a persons usefulness as a shinobi. He believes idealism to be the same as rejecting realism. He believes a shinobi that has personal objections to the shinobi lifestyle and the violence that comes with it is either a hypocrite or cannot truly support their village. He identifies Konohagakure with all of these ideas and looks down on any shinobi that hails from that accursed village.
He is a firm believer of survival of the fittest. The best reap the best rewards because they take them for themselves. A shinobi only deserves what they could already possess on their own and any shinobi that cannot support themselves deserve to fall through the cracks. Mercy is only an unwillingness to complete a mission by any means necessary. He takes orders without question as all shinobi should. His true loyalties lay with the soil of Kirigakure, regardless of comrades or leaders.
A ninja's worth is only defined by the ability to complete missions. Thus, a ninja's worth is purely ascertained by the value placed in said shinobi by other people. Masato is deeply aware of this. He trains hard so that his life can have worth. If he doesn't train hard enough, he'll be a liability to all those who count on him. He might as well be dead, which is another possible fate that awaits him. He fears that he will never be good enough and he projects this fear on others along with all of his weaknesses. The expectations of his comrades and the weaknesses of his enemies are his greatest strengths by his own opinion.

History: Masato knows little of his parents' lives before his birth. He knows that his father used to be Konohagakure shinobi before the man grew disillusioned with his village of birth. They preached peace, but they could not practice what they preached. They used this philosophy to hold themselves back from their true potential. The hypocrisy disgusted his father and the indecision regarding whether or not they wished to represent peace or power left them unable to truly seek either. Any other village would have been a better choice than Konohagakure, but Kirigakure was undoubtedly the most appropriate choice for asylum. A large body of water seperated the man from the mainland. Kirigakure would place great value in a former Konohagakure jonin even at the risk of being double crossed. The very idea of Kirigakure suited the man. Anyone who knew their history knew just how brutal the village had been in the past. This village represented what a shinobi should be. After years of contemplation, Kohaku Sarutobi not only renounced his home country, but also his own name. It was unfitting for him to carry the legacy of the Sarutobi into Kirigakure's future. His lineage would be carried on through the Saruwatari line.
Any village was a cut above Konohagakure, but no village was perfect. Kohaku learned that the hard way. The weakness he hated still existed in Kirigakure. The only difference was while it thrived in Konohagakure, it faintly clung to life in the mists, its only saving grace. Kohaku had thought that he had chosen a worthy mate, but she didn't even have enough life energy to spare her child. She truly put her all into the birth. The family was better off without a person like that. Kohaku trained his son to be the perfect Konohagakure shinobi: ruthless, tactical, laconic. The training was hands on. The boy's only defense against a skilled Jonin was his will. That was one thing Masato didn't have. Sure, he had the skill and the talent. He even seemed to understand the basic philosophy of the shinobi, but he inherited his mother's heart. Kohaku should have known this when his own child showed no aptitude for fire style techniques.
The death of his father was heartrending. Technically speaking, the man's death was never confirmed. He went missing in action in Konohagakure. Masato knew what had happened though. Those Konohagakure bastards killed his father. He hated them for it. He never received a chance to prove himself to his father. He would make up for it though. He was going to prove that his existence meant something. Everyone in this village was going to have their eyes on him.
