Nindo Skill

Overview: Nindo Skill provides a measurement of your character's level of skill in any given aspect of combat; if any at all. These levels are; No Skill, Practitioner, Expert, Mastery, Great Mastery, and Forbidden Mastery. Each level trumps the previous, and gains the previous’ perk if applicable.

Skill Levels Defined

No Skill (Academy Student, E-Rank): Having ‘No Skill’ means you simply fail at that aspect of combat. You are trumped by anyone with a greater mastery in that area, and will not receive any perks in that area.

Practitioner (Genin, D-Rank): Being a Practitioner means you can simply use that aspect of combat but not to anything beyond that. You are still trumped by anyone with a greater mastery in this area.

Adept (Chunin, C-Rank): Being an Adept means you have used this aspect of combat enough to where you are now capable of greater feats. You are still trumped by anyone with a greater mastery in this area.

Expert (Special Jounin, B-Rank): Being an Expert means you are well-versed in that given aspect of combat. You can use whichever aspect to a level beyond that of an average ninja, however are still trumped by anyone with a greater mastery in that area. Being an expert will grant you an even greater perk than the previous level of mastery.

Master (Jounin, A-Rank): Being a Master means you excel at that given aspect of combat, you are a master of it and not many can compete with you in it. You are trumped by Great and Forbidden Mastery levels only, and gain an even greater perk than the previous levels.

Great Mastery
(Kage, S-Rank): Being a Great Master in any aspect means you are beyond incredible at using that aspect of Combat; even legendary. There are few in the ninja world that can compete with you in it. This is the second highest level of mastery, which cannot be trumped except with Forbidden Mastery.

Forbidden Mastery (Bijuu, Six Paths, Beyond S-Rank): Being a Forbidden Master in any aspect means you are famous and considered a legendary Shinobi in that aspect. This is the ultimate level and cannot be trumped by any other level. At this level you gain access to Kinjutsu techniques.

Sub-Types

  • To use a shuriken or a kunai, usually as projectile weaponry, is called "shurikenjutsu" (手裏剣術, Literally meaning: sword hidden in the hand techniques). All ninja are taught some amount of shurikenjutsu from a young age, with members of the Uchiha clan being noted specialists. Even those who without any special propensity for shurikenjutsu keep a supply of shuriken and kunai with them for every mission.

  • Wielding a sword is called "kenjutsu" (剣術, Literally meaning: Sword Technique). It is one of the more common weapons used in Naruto, being especially popular amongst ninja of Kumogakure and Kirigakure; the latter is even famous for its Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

  • The use of explosive tags, whether as traps or as ways to make projectiles deadlier, is similar to the real world "kayakujutsu" (火薬術, Literally meaning: Gunpowder Techniques). Hanzō's fighting style makes a heavier use of explosive tags than most ninja, combining them with his Fire Release to create crippling techniques.

  • The use of a staff or bō in close-range combat is called "bōjutsu" (棒術, Literally meaning: Staff Techniques). Members of the Akimichi clan are often seen using a bō in battle. The Third Hokage's personal summon, Enma, can transform the into a large staff, which the Third wields with great skill.

  • To use a puppet in combat for any variety of reasons requires the Puppet Technique, an ability without any real world equivalent. Although ninja from several different villages have been seen manipulating puppets, it is most popular with ninja of Sunagakure.

  • The use of a war fan, whether as a blunt weapon or as a type of shield, is similar to the real world "tessenjutsu" (鉄扇術, Literally meaning: Iron-fan Technique). Ninja of Sunagakure, such as Temari, more often use war fans to facilitate their long-range wind-based ninjutsu.

  • The use of a kusarigama is called "kusarigamajutsu" (鎖鎌術, Literally meaning: Chain Sickle Technique). Only Hanzō has been shown using a kusarigama with any amount of regularity, though Hidan's Triple-Bladed Scythe is wielded in a manner similar to kusarigama.

  • To use a bow and arrow as a long-range weapon is called "kyūjutsu" (弓術, Literally meaning: Bow Technique). Bow and arrows are used very rarely in Naruto, and when they are they are typically some sort of chakra-based substance that is formed during combat rather than carried into it; examples include Sasuke Uchiha's Susanoo and Kidōmaru's Spider War Bow: Terrible Split.

NINDO TRAINING METHOD

Expert --> Mastery
9,000 Words
Mastery --> Great Mastery [Jonin+]
12,000 Words
Great Mastery --> Forbidden Mastery
24,000 Words

**Training is the hardest method of ranking nindo and nindo training will be graded solely on the quality of the training itself opposed to simply meeting the numbers indicated. We are aware that they are quite high but this is to encourage people going on missions and learning through actually being the field, so that they can buy their upgrades, opposed to sitting in a thread and spamming training until they max out their nindo stats. If you fail to have decent quality 3 times, you will have the remaining word count doubled again. Great Mastery is at 20,000 because essentially it would take a life-time to have skills that great. Sasuke and Naruto took numerous shortcuts in order to achieve their scale of power.

You may also use points as a substitute for Word Requirements in certain types of Training or to reduce word requirements. In this case;

  • 1 Ryo = 10 Words

This rule cannot be used on Word Quests, Sage Mode, Cursed Seals, Jinchuriki, Summon, and Transplant training.
